[Jan 30] B&B
(may) leave : good news or bad news?...your choice
They have announced their retire, in an interview
to appear tomorrow in a Bucharest (friendly to them) newspaper,
largely advertised by all Romanian TV stations.. Catalina
Ponor said to the same newspaper that she will follow them
(she was close to be expelled from the team, anyway, due to
her heavy overweight problems, anyway-our sources says). For
some of those which have a deep knowledge on Romanian gymnastics
and the (huge) past mistakes regarding the gymnasts (especially
those seriously injured), their post-Deva treatment "leave-them-on-the-God
mercy -since they can't bring any more medals", this
may be a positive news. For those which don't know such "details",
don't want to see or don't care much (about how other people
children are treated), this unexpected retire may be a bad
news.
The medals remain, for the moment and many years to come,
he is and will be "the Man" in the world gymnastics. The
Gold Book of Romanian and World Gymnastics will simply write
that he get more medals than anybody else. He can only hope
that the "Black Book" of Romanian gymnastics will
never be written.
The Belu's record of medals and consistency in getting results
will be hard to beat in near future-mostly due to changes
into Romanian society, which will not tolerate any more some
of the past (cold blood) "mistakes" made in treating
gymnasts. This have to be a top priority in future - for him,
if he will still stay, or for those to come next. (Your
opinions on this subject, on our Forum;
since this site is the only one supposed to be checked daily,
you have a rare chance to be "heard" by them).
